Opening week is highlighted by the 9th annual Cal National Gold Rush on Sunday, April 27. California-Bred stars will compete in 10 stakes races worth more than $1.3 million. The richest race on the Gold Rush card is the $250,000 Cal National Snow Chief Stakes. Special first post on Gold Rush Day is 12:30 p.m.
Cal National Snow Chief Stakes
$250,000 1 1/8 miles. 3-year-olds, registered Cal-Breds. Nomination fee $250 due April 4, to be run Sunday, April 27.
Melair Stakes
$200,000 1 1/16 miles. Fillies 3-years-old, registered Cal-breds. Nomination fee $200 due April 4, to be run Sunday, April 27.
TVG Khaled Stakes
$150,000 1 1/8 miles (Turf). 4-year-olds & upward, registered Cal-breds. Nomination fee $150 due April 4, to be run Sunday, April 27.

Fran's Valentine Stakes

Barretts Stakes
$70,000 7 furlongs. 3-year-olds & upward, bred in California, which have not won $3,000 other than maiden, claiming or starter or have never won two races. By subscription of $50 each, on or before April 4, 2008 or by supplementary nomination of $3,500 each by closing time of entries. $100 to start. Weights: 3-year-olds 118 lbs; older 124 lbs. Non winners of a race other than maiden, claiming or starter allowed 2 lbs; non winners of a race other than claiming or starter, 4 lbs. (Winners that have started for a claiming race of $25,000 or less in their last 3 starts and maidens that are non-starters for a claiming price have second preference).
