Starter Analysis
WHATSTHESCRIPT has run exclusively on the turf in his five starts to date. Beginning his career in Ireland, he transferred his form to the States with style, winning a pair of stakes here, including most recently in the split Generous (GIII) during the Turf Festival last month. He was a 6-5 in that race, and ran like it, winning pretty handily despite the half-length margin at the wire. He's got to be able to handle the move from turf to main track, but many horses have shown the ability to do just that at this meet. Closers historically do better on the turf, but there is potentially enough speed for him to get the right scenario. Has never been off the board in five starts, yet could be a bit overlooked in what shapes up as a wide-open race.

Pedigree Analysis :: Bay colt, 2; by Royal Applause (GB) - Grizel (GB) (Lion Cavern)
WHATSTHESCRIPT is by Royal Applause, a Great Britian bred that is a descendant of Northern Dancer. Interestingly, Northern Dancer is the only horse that appears more than once in Whatsthescript's first four generations. On the racetrack, Royal Applause won nine of fifteen lifetime starts, with stakes wins in the Middle Park Stakes (GI), Haydock Sprint Cup (GI), and Gimcrack Stakes (GII) all in Great Britian. Royal Applause retired to stud Gainsborough Stud in England in 1998, and is co-owned by Gainsborough Stud Management and H.M. the Queen. He was the champion first crop sire in 2001 and the leading second crop sire of black type stakes winners.
