Starter Analysis
BELGRAVIA has gotten some press being compared to Lion Heart, and the $2 million auction purchase has looked good in winning both his starts. He was particularly game winning the Hollywood Prevue (GIII), but now makes his first start going a route of ground. Leparoux makes the trip West as the stable rider. The young wonder-jock has done great thing this year, but showed his age a bit in the Breeders' Cup. He's still as good as they get, and will need to give a ride similar to that on Gorella in the Beverly D. this August. Drawing post 10, he should settle nicely in the back half of the field, and with a good trip will be a big factor. Has been working extremely well over the local surface and makes plenty of sense in the top spot.

Pedigree Analysis :: Chesnut colt, 2; by Mr. Greeley - Peaks Mill (Stalwart)
BELGRAVIA is by the top class sprinter Mr. Greeley. He did all his best running at age three, taking a trio of Grade 3 events (Swale, Lafayette and Spectacular Bid), as well as finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (GI). He also was precocious enough to win twice at age two. He was second in the one mile Jerome (GI), a race more recently won by the likes of Fusaichi Pegasus and Discreet Cat. A sire of eight crops of racing age, Mr. Greeley has 32 stakes winners to his credit and 13% 2-year-old winners. Belgravia is out of the Stalwart mare Peaks Mill. With just three foals to race, she’s produced two winners, with the subject colt being her lone stakes horse. Stalwart certainly gives Belgravia good credentials for the race: he won this event in 1981 and also took the Norfolk (GI) at two. Peaks Mill raced primarily on the Kentucky circuit in the 1990’s, winning Turfway’s Wishing Well and placed in a couple of other listed events. All of her four wins came sprinting; she was unsuccessful in five lifetime route races.
