Pedigree Analysis
OBJECTIVE comes into the race with some pretty good credentials. Though he's based locally, he shipped to Santa Anita to take the Hill Rise early this month in very handy fashion. His number from that race was much higher than any other to date, so it's tough to say if that was an aberration. It also could have been that he took to the sloppy going, and never being seriously challenged on the lead, was left to put out a top effort. He has raced at six different tracks already, which might have contributed to it taking four starts to break his maiden. Reunites with rider Roberto Gonzalez, who was aboard for the maiden win. Has some questions to answer here, but could give some of the higher profile runners a scare. OBJECTIVE is from the first crop of El Corredor, a winner of seven of ten lifetime outings, earning over $727,000. An impressive miler, El Corredor took the Cigar Mile (GI), beating older horses in the process, and consecutive runnings of the Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap (GII). He's gotten off to an excellent at stud, siring the multiple graded winning filly Adieu; El Viento, a grade one winner in Puerto Rico; and Itty Bitty Pretty, victress in the Santa Ysabel (GIII) earlier this month at Santa Anita. He is also the sire of Wanna Runner, who was most recently third behind Brother Derek and Stevie Wonderboy in the San Rafael (GII). Objective is a daughter of Changing Seasons, whose only other foal to race is unplaced in one start. Changing Seasons won four times in her career, twice on the turf and a pair of sprints. A daughter of Super Chef, that makes Changing Seasons a half sister to Atlantic Ocean, a graded event winner at two and three who was very comfortable going a route of ground.
