Starter Analysis
Closer MAGICAL FANTASY makes her third start off the layoff after two competitive efforts in the Senorita (GIII) and Honeymoon (GIII). She gained some ground in the stretch of the Honeymoon, a good sign as she tried nine panels for the first time. She's certainly bred top and bottom to handle the distance, and though she's winless on the grass, her pedigree says yes there too. As part of a big group of closers, Solis will need some racing luck to get the right trip. Fairly evenly matched from a speed figure standpoint, but a step forward seems necessary.

Pedigree Analysis :: Chestnut filly, 3; by Diesis (GB) - Kissing Gate (Easy Goer)
As with a lot of horses in the Paddy Gallagher barn, MAGICAL FANTASY began her career in Europe before coming stateside. She didn't have a ton of impact over the Polytrack in Great Britain, scoring just once in five tries. Gallagher moved her to the grass once he took over the training a few months back, and she's run pretty well twice in graded stakes company, including a fifth, but beaten just 2 ½ lengths, in the Honeymoon (gr. II), which serves as a local prep for the American Oaks.

Magical Fantasy is by Diesis (GB), who passed away at the age of 26 in 2006. His 83 stakes horses include 8 champions and lifetime earnings over $45,000,000. Top progeny include the graded stakes winners Three Valleys (Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap-G2), Magistretti (Man o' War Stakes-G1) and the high class sire Halling. Magical Fantasy's dam Kissing Gate has been quite a producer; every one of her six foals to race has won, with one stakes winner in the sextet: the English listed stakes winner Forward Move (IRE). Kissing Gate's half-brother, Keen Hunter (by Magical Fantasy's sire Diesis), was a Group One winner on the turf Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp (FR-I); and another brother, Altibr, won graded stakes on the grass in the United States and Dubai.
