Starter Analysis
CARRIBEAN SUNSET comes to Hollywood off just two weeks rest and is the pick for the seventh American Oaks. She's been tested against some of Europe's top sophomore fillies and has given a very good account of herself. She galloped around strongly during training Friday morning, showing plenty of interest in the new surroundings. Was the picture of health and composure afterwards and looks none the worse for the wear after the trip from England. Watch for her to be tracking just in behind the leaders and then cut loose at the quarter pole.

Pedigree Analysis ::Bay filly, 3; by Danehill Dancer (Ire) - Bonheur (Ire)(Royal Academy)
CARRIBEAN SUNSET (IRE) is unique in that she broke her maiden in a Group 3 race in Ireland after five failed prior attempts. The win wasn't a fluke, though; she came right back to win at the same level. She then took the step to the highest level and was only beaten a half length in the Irish 1000 Guineas (ENG-1) while finishing fourth and then was third in the Coronation (ENG-1) at Royal Ascot, one of Europe's premier meets on the racing calendar. Trainer Dermot Weld won this race in 2002 with Dimtrova.

Carribean Sunset is by Danehill Dancer, a dual Group One winner and champion at two who managed to only once afterwards in a racing career that fell well short of what could have been his best. He retired to stud in Australia. He has shown himself more than capable of siring horses better than himself with runners such as Alexander Tango, Choisir, Speciosa, Anna Pavlova, and Jeremy among his progeny. Carribean Sunset's dam has thrown three winners from as many foals to race. Her dam, Queen to Conquer, earned over $620,000 on the grass, winning the Yellow Ribbon (gr. I), the Ramona (gr. II) twice, and the Santa Ana Handicap (gr. III).
