Starter Analysis |
|
SUPPOSITION comes from Ireland and trainer Dermot Weld, who won this race in 2003 with Dimitrova. Supposition has never been further than seven furlongs and makes her first start in 2007. There's no word on what her plans are after the Oaks, but the Juddmonte folks could be planning on leaving her in the States. In her four Irish races, she stayed fairly close to the pace each time; maybe she will prefer the American style of racing? With that and so many other questions surrounding her, she does make an intriguing longshot play. Trainer and morning line of 15-1 also pique interest, but take a look in the paddock and post parade before making a final decision. |

Background/Pedigree Analysis :: Bay filly, 3; by Dansili (GB) - Topicality (Topsider) |
|
SUPPOSITION makes the trip to Hollywood from Ireland to make just her fifth lifetime start. All four of her previous efforts came at age two and seven furlongs. Her only win came in a maiden race, but she was also third in a Group One race. Trainer Dermot Weld, who won the race with Dimitrova in 2003, cannot be overlooked.
Supposition is by Dansili, sire of 32 black type winners to date, led by his son Rail Link, winner of the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe (GI). Dansili won Group stakes on three occasions, all at one mile in France. He was also third in the Breeders' Cup Mile (GI) at Churchill Downs. Dansili is out of argueably the most influential broodmare of the past 20 years. Dansili is joined siblings Banks Hill, Cacique, Intercontinental, and Heat Haze, all Grade One winners, thrown by the mare Hasili Supposition's dam Topicality hasn't had the best of luck as a broodmare, with three of her seven foals making it to the races. Topicality won once in five starts in France, not near as prolific as some of her siblings. The stellar group includes Exbourne, winner of the Hollywood Turf (GI) and Caesars International Handicap (GII); Top Socialite, a multiple stakes winner in both Europe and the United States; and the Eddie Read Handicap (GI) winner Expelled.
