Starter Analysis
One of a quartet in the Oaks coming out of the Honeymoon BC Handicap (GII), Proxenia performed fairly well considering it was her first try in stakes company. It took her eight tries to break her maiden, which she did just last March. She was no real threat to either Attima or Foxysox in the Honeymoon, but was well clear of the rest of the field. Asking an awful lot of a "non-winners of two" to face a field of stakes winners, but her latest was encouraging enough to give her connections the green light. Did the unusual when she worked a mile on the grass last weekend, which indicates that she was getting some stamina building from trainer Paddy Gallagher. Gets a big class test Sunday, and will likely find herself getting outfooted when the real running starts.

Pedigree Analysis :: Chesnut filly, 3; by Pursuit of Love (GB) - Radiant (GB) (Machiavellian)
Proxenia is by the English stallion Pursuit of Love. The champion 3-year-old sprinter of 1992 in his homeland, he has also been champion 2-year-old sire twice while standing at Throckmorton Court Stud. Overall, he hit the board in nine of ten lifetime starts and is a half-brother to the top-class European sprint filly Divine Danse (FR). To date, he is the sire of 23 stakes horses that are more familiar to European rather than American audiences. It must be noted that he is also the broodmare sire of Attraction, the only filly to win both the Group One English and Irish 1,000 Guineas, two of her seven stakes victories; as well as Antonius Pius, second in the 2004 Breeders' Cup Mile (GI).
Proxenia is the first foal from her dam Radiant, a daughter of the 2-year-old French champion Machiavellian. The unraced Radiant is out of Brave Revival, a half-sister to the British stallion Pivotal, sire of the incomparable mare Megahertz and 2002 American Turf Female Champion Golden Apples. Proxenia is inbred 4x4 to the classic turf influence Lyphard, one of the greatest sires of the latter 20th century who passed away in 2005 at age 35.
