Starter Analysis |
|
Foxysox had a tough beat when chasing a loose on the lead Attima last time out in the Honeymoon Breeders' Cup Handicap (GII). That broke a four race winning streak dating back to last February. Like Attima, she's run much better since shipping to the States after beginning her career in England. Obviously appreciates the two turns, so it's not out of the question that she should handle the 1-1/4 miles, a distance she's never tried. Not sure that Attima will get such an easy lead as last time, which should only help Foxysox's stalking style. A big positive on her ledger is that she can make up ground regardless of how slow they go in front of her. Another plus is regular rider Alex Bisono, who knows her very well, stays aboard. She may have hit the ceiling class-wise in some handicapper's estimation, but she seems to have room for improvement. Should be a good price for a filly that's proven on the local surface. Worth an across the board play at 6-1 or better. |

Pedigree Analysis :: Chesnut filly, 3; by Foxhound - Triple Tricks (Royal Academy) |
Foxysox comes from a very nice family on her sire's side. Foxhound, a stakes performer at 2, 3 and 4, has five siblings that were also stakes horses. Chief among these on the track was probably Wolfhound, a multiple group winner in Europe that was at his best at a mile or less. However Foxhound's most famous sibling is Weekend Surprise, one of the better racing fillies of the early 1980's. However, she made her mark as a broodmare, foaling Horse of the Year A.P Indy, classic winner Summer Squall and four other stakes horses. Foxhound entered stud in 1996, and currently stands at Lakewood Farm in Australia.
Foxysox is the first stakes horse from her dam Triple Tricks. The Irish bred mare has had four previous foals, with one winner from the quartet. Triple Tricks is a daughter of 1990 Breeders' Cup Mile (GI) winner Royal Academy, sire of over 100 stakes winners. Triple Tricks was winless in eight lifetime starts, never racing beyond a mile. Her siblings did nothing remarkable on the racetrack, but her dam Tricky Note was an English stakes winner at two and is a full sister to the multiple turf stakes winner Jester (GB).
