INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Nov. 20, 2009) — The ultra consistent mare Reba Is Tops, who has only missed the money twice in 20 starts, registered the tenth victory of her career by a 1 ¾-length margin over Annihilation in Friday night’s $47,000 allowance feature at Hollywood Park.
Reba Is Tops, a 5-year-old Washington-bred daughter of He’s Tops, covered six furlongs in 1:09.18 under Joe Talamo to win for the second time in three starts on the Lakeside Turf Course. She captured the Lawndale here in May before losing by a nose while finishing in a dead heat for second with Royal Taat in the Great Lady M Handicap in June.
The 7-5 betting choice, Reba Is Tops paid $4.80, $3 and $2.40. Annihilation returned $4.60 and $2.80, while Rainbow’s Song — who beat Royal Taat by a neck for third — paid $3.40.
Reba Is Tops, trained by Mark Glatt for Gordy Jarnig, Kenny Marshall and Eric Schweiger, now has a mark of 10-5-3 in 20 starts. The winner’s share of $28,200 raised her earnings to $282,277.
