Underwood Winner Among Contenders In Defrancis Dash

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (October 25, 2012)—Pacific Ocean, who won the Grade III Vernon O. Underwood last fall at Betfair Hollywood Park, is the 7-2 second choice in the $350,000 Frank J. DeFrancis Memorial Dash Saturday at Laurel.

A six furlong race for older horses, the DeFrancis is the 10th of 11 races. Scheduled post time is 2:09 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by Dennis Narlinger and trained by Rick Dutrow, Jr., Pacific Ocean won the Underwood last Nov. 26 by 2 ¼ lengths in his lone start for trainer Mike Mitchell.
In three 2012 races for Dutrow, Pacific Ocean has been off the board twice, but did lead gate-to-wire in the Grade III James Marvin July 20 at Saratoga.

A 5-year-old gelded son of Ghostzapper and the Unbridled mare Miss Salsa, Pacific Ocean has won five of nine and earned $232,199. He will be ridden for the first time Saturday by Ramon Dominguez.
