INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 10, 2013)—Tiz Flirtatious, who lost by a head to Marketing Mix in a thrilling Gamely Stakes May 27 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will seek her second stakes win of the year in the $250,000 John C. Mabee Sunday at Del Mar.

A Grade II for older fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on turf, the Mabee is the eighth of nine races. Post time Sunday at Del Mar is 1 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.

Trained by Marty Jones for owner-breeder Pamela Ziebarth, Tiz Flirtatious came up just short to favored Marketing Mix – who defeated males in the Grade III Sunset Handicap July 14 – after a stretch-long battle in the Grade I Gamely.

A 5-year-old daughter of Tizbud and the Victory Gallop mare Masquerade Belle, Tiz Flirtatious has won six of 10 and earned $474,800. The California bred has not been worse than third and earned her most significant victory in the Grade II Santa Ana March 24 at Santa Anita.

The main threat to Tiz Flirtatious in the Mabee is Lady of Shamrock, who earned the first Grade I win of her career in the 2012 American Oaks at Betfair Hollywood Park.

From inside out, the field for the 56th John C. Mabee Stakes: My Gi Gi, Corey Nakatani rides, 119 pounds; Tiz Flirtatious, Julien Leparoux, 121; Lady of Shamrock, Rafael Bejarano, 121; Customer Base, Mike Smith, 119 and Journaliste, Martin Pedroza, 119.
