INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2009) — Saucey Evening emerged from a four-horse pack at the sixteenth pole and went on to post a 10-1 upset victory under jockey Jose Valdivia Jr. in the $61,150 Starine Stakes on Thursday at Hollywood Park.

The 3-year-old chestnut filly finished a neck in front of Spirit Seeker, with Hermione’s Magic another neck back in third. Dreamalong and Summers Peace — another half-length back — finished in a dead heat for fourth in the field of seven.

Saucey Evening, owned by Augustin Stable and trained by H. Graham Motion, covered one mile on the Lakeside Turf Course in 1:35.61 while paying $23.20, $9.40 and $5. Spirit Seeker paid $5.40 and $3.620, while the show payoff on Hermione’s Magic was $3.20.

The victory — worth $39,810 — boosted Saucey Evening’s earnings to $351,939. She has won four of 12 starts.
