INGLEWOOD, Calif. (December 12, 2013)—In commemoration of the closing of Betfair Hollywood Park, a pair of $50,000 starter allowance races will be offered Sunday, Dec. 22, the final day of racing at the historic track.

Both races are scheduled for one mile on turf. The Valley Lass is for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds & up while the Auld Lang Syne is for 3-year-olds & up.

The Valley Lass honors the first horse to win a race at Hollywood Park. The 2-year-old California bred filly won June 10, 1938 under jockey Silvio Coucci. She paid $4.60 to win and completed five furlongs in 1:00 1/5.

The most lucrative event on the Dec. 22 program is the $200,000 King Glorious Stakes.

Part of the Golden State Series, the King Glorious, which will be run at seven furlongs over Cushion Track, is restricted to 2-year-olds bred or sired in California.

Entries for closing day will be taken Thursday, Dec. 19.
