INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 10, 2012)—Despite the Friday scratch of Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another from the Belmont Stakes, eliminating an opportunity for the first Triple Crown winner in 34 years, on-track attendance Saturday at Betfair Hollywood Park increased better than 12.5 per cent over the corresponding day in 2011.

The on-track crowd was 7,859 in 2012 compared to 6,980 a year ago.

Total Southern California attendance was also up, rising more than 9.3 per cent. The total attendance Saturday was 24,913 compared to 22,728 in 2011.

The Spring/Summer meet at Betfair Hollywood Park will continue through Sunday, July 15.

The final five weeks of the Spring/Summer meet include five Grade I races – the $250,000 Vanity Handicap Saturday, June 16, the $300,000 Shoemaker Mile and $250,000 Triple Bend Handicap (Saturday, June 30), $500,000 Hollywood Gold Cup (Saturday, July 7) and $350,000 American Oaks (Saturday, July 14).
