INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 3, 2009) — Doug O’Neill, who has saddled five first-time starters to win at the meeting, will send two to the post in Thursday’s $70,000 Willard L. Proctor Memorial for 2-year-olds at Hollywood Park.
California-bred Track N Attack scored a 2 ½-length win in his career debut here May 7, while Classical Slew drew off to a 5 ¼-length victory in his first start May 13.
Both colts won at 4 ½ furlongs and will run an additional sixteenth of a mile in the five-furlong Proctor, which will line up as follows from the rail out:
Classical Slew, with Michael Baze up, carries 120 pounds; Grace Upon Grace, Victor Espinoza, 120; Turbo Time, Danny Sorenson, 120; Ritzville, Martin Garcia, 120; Eze Does It, Corey Nakatani, 115; Coo Cachoo, Tyler Baze, 120; Zip Quik, Joe Talamo, 115, and Track N Attack, Joel Rosario, 120.
All but Eze Does It and Zip Quick have won their first start. Eze Does It finished second in a maiden special weight May 15 at Golden Gate Fields, while Zip Quik has yet to start.
