Miesque Winner Seeks First Victory Of 2012 In Given

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 19, 2012)—More Than Love, who won the 2011 Miesque Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park, will make her first start in some 4 ½ months in the $85,000 The Given Stakes Thursday at Belmont Park.

Restricted to 3-year-old fillies at one mile over the Widener turf course, the Given is the seventh of nine races. Scheduled post time is 12:02 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by Newton Anner Stud and trained by John Terranova II, More Than Love defeated Starship Flare by a nose as the even-money favorite in the Grade III Miesque last Nov. 25.

A daughter of More Than Ready out of the Zafonic mare I’m in Love, More Than Love has failed to win in three subsequent races. She hasn’t started since finishing last of 12 in the Edgewood Stakes May 4 at Churchill Downs.

A Kentucky bred, More Than Love has won two of six lifetime while banking $115,998.

The large cast also includes Nayarra and Colonial Flag, who finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the Grade I American Oaks July 14 at Betfair Hollywood Park.
