Liaison Hopes To Rebound In San Felipe Stakes Saturday

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (March 7, 2012)—Liaison, who scored the biggest win of his career in the $750,000 CashCall Futurity Dec. 17 at Hollywood Park, will try for his second graded victory in the $300,000 San Felipe Stakes Saturday at Santa Anita.

A Grade II for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 miles, the San Felipe is the ninth of 10 races. Post time Saturday is 12:30 p.m. Track gates at Hollywood Park open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by Arnold Zetcher and trained by Bob Baffert, Liaison unseated jockey Rafael Bejaranoafter clipping heels in his first start of the year in the Grade II Robert B. Lewis last month.

A son of Indian Charlie and the Victory Gallop mare Galloping Gal, Liaison has won three of five and earned $469,560. He will race without blinkers for the first time in the San Felipe.

Rousing Sermon, runner-up behind Liaison in both the Real Quiet Stakes and CashCall Futurity, will be seeking his second victory over the Santa Anita main track. The winner of the California Cup Juvenile last fall, the Lucky Pulpit colt out of the Awesome Again mare Rousing Again is owned by breeders Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer. He has won two of seven and banked $298,000.
