INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 17, 2013)—Lady of Shamrock, who won the 2012 American Oaks with a rail-skimming rally, is among 15 nominees to the $250,000 Gamely Stakes.

The first Grade I of the 2013 Spring/Summer meet at Betfair Hollywood Park, the Gamely, which is for older fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on turf, will be run for the 47th time Monday, May 27.

Owned by Hronis Racing LLC and trained by John Sadler, Lady of Shamrock has won seven of 13 and earned $825,400. The 4-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy and the Blushing John mare Blushing Issue is seeking her second win of the year. Lady of Shamrock was runner-up in her seasonal debut in the Grade II Santa Ana Stakes March 24, then won the Grade II Santa Barbara Handicap – via disqualification – April 20.

Never worse than second in four starts at the Gamely distance, Lady of Shamrock is one of five females – along with Cozze Up Lady, I Dazzle, Journaliste and Miss Ellany – nominated to the race by Sadler. Cozze Up Lady, Journaliste and Miss Ellany are also owned by Hronis Racing LLC.

Other Gamely nominees include Tiz Flirtatious, who is 2-for-2 in 2013 with wins in the Fran’s Valentine and Santa Ana, multiple graded stakes winner Marketing Mix and Wilshire Handicap winner Halo Dolly.

The Memorial Day weekend at Betfair Hollywood Park will include two other graded races – the $150,000, Grade II American Handicap and the $100,000, Grade III Los Angeles Handicap.

Run at one mile on turf, the American attracted 11 nominations, topped by double Grade II winner Obviously, 2012 Malibu Stakes winner Jimmy Creed and Tigah, who won the Grade III San Francisco Mile for Sadler April 27 at Golden Gate Fields. The American will be run Saturday, May 25.

Like the Gamely, the Los Angeles, which is for older horses at six furlongs over Cushion Track, will be run May 27.

The 17 nominees include the aforementioned Jimmy Creed, multiple graded stakes winner and recent Cool Frenchy victor Comma to the Top, 2011 winner Camp Victory, 2012 runner-up Centralinteligence and a half-dozen – Apriority, Bank the Eight, Capital Account, Drill, Fast Bullet and Patriot’s Voyage – from the barn of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert.
