INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 7, 2013)—Kinz Funky Monkey, the upset winner of the Manhattan Beach Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park in her turf debut June 8, will try for her third lifetime victory in the $80,000 Daisycutter Handicap Friday at Del Mar.
Scheduled for five furlongs on grass, the Daisycutter, which is for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up, is the seventh of eight races. Post time Friday at Del Mar is 4 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.
Trained by Peter Eurton for Always Believe Inc., Kinz Funky Monkey held off favored Judy In Disguise by a half-length when 15-1 in the Manhattan Beach.
It was the first start in more than nine months for the 3-year-old daughter of The Green Monkey and the More Than Ready mare Pretty Ready. She’s won twice and earned $108,110.
