INGLEWOOD, Calif. (April 8, 2010) — Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are first up on the 2010 Hollywood Park spring/summer concert lineup as they will perform in the North Park following the races on Friday, April 23.
There will be 12 Friday night programs during the 60-day, 13-week Spring/Summer Meet, which opens Wednesday, April 21. First post time on Fridays is at 7:05 p.m. The lone exception is a 1 p.m. post time on April 30 — eve of the Kentucky Derby. Concerts will begin following the final race at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Hollywood Park moved its Friday night concert series to the spacious North Park in 2009 to accommodate more patrons.
The move was well received as it provided more room for fans and added concession stands, restrooms and betting windows. In addition, the concerts can now be viewed by paying general admission of $8. In previous years, the cost was $10 as the concerts were held in tighter confines within the Clubhouse. After 10 p.m., admission to the concert is $20.
The North Park, located at the north end of the grandstand, affords an excellent view of the turn for home and the stretch. It is bordered on the north by Cassidy Lane, the path horses use to walk from the stable area to the saddling area.
Hollywood Park has lined up concerts for each of the 12 Friday night programs, which feature $2 hot dogs throughout the evening and $3 draft beers until 9 p.m.
