I’ll Have Another Horse Of Year Finalist

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (January 5, 2013)—Four horses who were either stabled or won stakes races at Betfair Hollywood Park last year are among the finalists for the 2012 Eclipse Awards.

The winners will be announced at the Eclipse Awards dinner Saturday, January 19 at Gulfstream Park.

I’ll Have Another, who won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness before an injury prior to the Belmont Stakes ended his career and his bid for the Triple Crown, is a finalist for Horse of the Year and 3-Year-Old Male.

Owned by J. Paul Reddam, who is a finalist in the Owner category, and trained by Doug O’Neill, I’ll Have Another was stabled at Betfair Hollywood Park and broke his maiden over Cushion Track in his 2-year-old debut during the 2011 Spring/Summer meet.

The other finalists for Horse of the Year are Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Fort Larned and Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Wise Dan.

Violence, who won the Grade I, $750,000 CashCall Futurity, which is sponsored by Reddam’s consumer loans company, is a finalist for 2-Year-Old Male.

Trained by Todd Pletcher for Black Rock Thoroughbreds LLLP, Violence went 3-for-3 in 2012. The other candidates in the category are Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Shanghai Bobby and Uncaptured.

Executiveprivilege, who won the Landaluce Stakes during the 2012 Spring/Summer meet, is a finalist for 2-Year-Old Filly. Trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert for owners Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman, Executiveprivilege is joined by Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies heroine Beholder and Dreaming of Julia.

Include Me Out, who won the Grade II, $150,000 Marjorie L. Everett for owner Samantha Siegel’s Jay Em Ess Stable and trainer Ron Ellis last May, is an Older Female finalist along with Groupie Doll and two-time Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic winner Royal Delta.
