INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 13, 2010)—Victor’s Cry, the upset winner of the Shoemaker Mile earlier in the year at Hollywood Park, will try to add a second Grade I to his resume in the $1 million Woodbine Mile Sunday at Woodbine in Toronto.

Owned by Equilete Stable and trained by Eoin Harty, the 5-year-old son of Street Cry is looking to become only the second horse to win both the Shoemaker and the Woodbine Mile. Labeeb completed the grassy double in 1998.

A 21-1 longshot when he defeated favored Karelian by a head in the Shoemaker on May 31, Victor’s Cry is one of four California based horses scheduled to compete in the Woodbine Mile.

The most accomplished of those is The Usual Q.T. A 4-year-old California bred son of Unusual Heat owned by a partnership that includes Don Van Kempen, The Usual Q.T. will be seeking his ninth consecutive turf victory for trainer Jim Cassidy.

The Usual Q.T., who earned the first Grade 1 win of his career in the 2009 Hollywood Derby over the Hollywood Park turf course, will be ridden by regular jockey Victor Espinoza.

The other two Californians scheduled to compete in the Woodbine Mile are Riviera Cocktail, a multiple winner over the grass at Hollywood Park, and Crowded House, who most recently was second behind Richard’s Kid in the Pacific Classic on Aug. 28 at Del Mar.
