Halo Dolly Seeks 17th Lifetime Win In Yellow Ribbon

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 31, 2013)—Halo Dolly, who won the Grade II Wilshire Handicap April 28 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will try for her second victory of the Del Mar meet in the $150,000 Yellow Ribbon Handicap Monday.

A Grade II for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on turf, the Yellow Ribbon is the ninth of 11 races and one of three stakes to be offered on the Labor Day program. Post time Monday at Del Mar is 2:05 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by a large partnership that includes Daniel and Yolanda Hoefflin, Michael O’Farrell, Charie Robin, George Todaro, Joseph Schneider, Brett Tahajian and Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, Halo Dolly has won 16 of 32 and banked $861,736.

Her latest victory came against fellow California breds in the Solana Beach Handicap Aug. 18. The win for the 5-year-old daughter of Popular and the Comic Strip mare Spanish Halo was her fourth in five starts over the Del Mar grass.

Besides the Yellow Ribbon, the holiday card also features the $150,000 I’m Smokin for 2-year-olds bred or sired in California at six furlongs over Polytrack and the $100,000 Oak Tree Juvenile Fillies Turf for 2-year-old females at one mile.

The I’m Smokin is the fifth race while the Oak Tree Juvenile Fillies is the sixth.
