INGLEWOOD, Calif. (July 25, 2012)—Second behind stablemate Game On Dude in the Grade I Hollywood Gold Cup July 7, Richard’s Kid returns to the scene of his biggest wins Friday at Del Mar.

A two time winner of the Pacific Classic for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, Richard’s Kid will have five opponents in the $100,000 Cougar II Handicap.

A Grade III at 1 ½ miles over Polytrack, the Cougar II is the seventh of eight races. Post time Friday is 4 p.m. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by Zabeel Racing International Corporation, Richard’s Kid, a 7-year-old son of Lemon Drop Kid, won the Prove It Stakes by 7 ¼ lengths over Cushion Track in his 2012 debut June 8 before he finished 1 ½ lengths behind Game On Dude in the Gold Cup.

Never worse than third in four starts over the Del Mar main track – including the Pacific Classic victories in 2009 and 2010 – Richard’s Kid has 10 wins in 34 starts and earnings of $1,926,385. He was third as the 11-10 favorite in the 2010 Cougar II, a little more than four weeks before he repeated in the Pacific Classic.
