INGLEWOOD, Calif. (February 2, 2012)—Game On Dude, whose stellar 2011 campaign included a runner-up finish in the Hollywood Gold Cup, will make his first start as a 5-year-old in the $200,000 San Antonio Stakes Sunday at Santa Anita.

A Grade II for older horses at 1 1/8 miles, the San Antonio is the seventh of eight races. Post time is 11 a.m., 90 minutes earlier than normal due to the Super Bowl. Track gates at Hollywood Park will open at 9:00 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by a partnership that includes Joe Torre’s Diamond Pride LLC and the Lanni Family Trust and trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, Game On Dude won three of eight in 2011, earning $1,917,400.

The Kentucky bred son of Awesome Again and the Devil His Due mare Worldly Pleasure was worse than third only once last year, finishing fourth in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar.

His most significant victory came in the Grade I Santa Anita Handicap, a nose win which also included a lengthy stewards’ inquiry. Besides his second place finish in the Gold Cup – a race where he was a nose loser to stablemate First Dude – he was also runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, finishing 1 ½ lengths behind surprise winner Drosselmeyer.

Perfect in three starts at Santa Anita, Game On Dude has won five of 14 lifetime and banked $2,134,658.
