Fury Kapcori Ventures East For Pennsyvlania Derby

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 18, 2013)—Fury Kapcori, who was second to Violence in the Grade I CashCall Futurity last Dec. 15 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will seek the most important victory of his career in the $1 million Pennsyvlania Derby Saturday at Parx.

A Grade II for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles, the Pennsylvania Derby is the 11th of 12 races. Scheduled post time is 2:45 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by a partnership that includes Rick Awtrey, George Todaro and Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, Fury Kapcori finished 1 ¼ lengths behind Violence as a 16-1 shot in the CashCall Futurity.

A son of Tiznow and the Go for Gin mare Gin Running, Fury Kapcori has won twice in seven starts and banked $245,800. In his most recent race, he finished second to Holy Lute as the 13-10 favorite in the El Cajon Stakes Aug. 30 at Del Mar.

From inside out, the field for the Pennsylvania Derby: Speak Logistics, Paco Lopez rides, 117 pounds; Transparent, Irad Ortiz, Jr., 117; Moreno, Jose Ortiz, 122; Battier, Angel Castillo, 117; Java’s War, Julien Leparoux, 124; Fury Kapcori, Mike Smith, 117; Romansh, Rajiv Maragh, 119 and Will Take Charge, Luis Saez, 124.

Transparent and Romansh will be coupled in the wagering as the Godolphin Racing LLC-owned entry.
