INGLEWOOD, Calif. (January 2, 2014)—Betfair Hollywood Park, which wrapped 75 years of history with the conclusion of live racing Dec. 22, showed gains in both handle and on-track attendance compared to its next-to-last Autumn meet in 2012.
The average daily all-sources commingled handle on both imported races and those conducted at Betfair Hollywood Park during the 27-day season was up slightly ($8,935,076) over the 2012 season ($8,897,626).
The average daily all-sources commingled handle solely on races run at Betfair Hollywood Park during the 2013 Autumn season increased 3.9% over the previous year ($6,864,028 compared to $6,604,176).
Buoyed by a paid attendance of 13,283 Dec. 22, a figure which increased substantially after admission became free shortly after the fourth of 11 races was made official, daily on-track attendance showed a spike of 15% over 2012.“The handle increase on the Betfair Hollywood Park races was attributable, among other factors, to the support of owners and trainers at the entry box, the skill and energy of our racing department and the widely held respect for our Cushion Track surface,’’ said Betfair Hollywood Park president Jack Liebau. “We’d also like to thank all of our employees for their efforts and the continued support and patronage of our customers.’’
