INGLEWOOD, Calif. (December 1, 2010)—Add California to the list of states in which Broken Dreams has won after her score as the heavy favorite in the $44,000 feature Wednesday at Hollywood Park.

A winner previously at Tampa Bay Downs in Florida and Saratoga in New York, the 4-year-old Broken Vow filly out of the Storm Cat mare Our Dreamer drew away late to score at 2-5 against four opponents.

Owned by breeder Leonard Lavin’s Glen Hill Farm and trained by Tom Proctor, Broken Dreams has won three of seven. She has earned $101,120.

Content to track pacesetter Folk Dancer for most of the trip, Broken Dreams and jockey Garrett Gomez took over with a little less than an eighth of a mile to run and won with something in reserve.

The margin of victory was 2 ½ lengths. She ran the six furlongs on turf in 1:08.57.

The win was the second for Gomez aboard the Florida bred. He rode her to victory going 5 ½ furlongs on the grass in a $52,000 allowance July 28 at Saratoga.

Broken Dreams, who has been worse than second only once, paid $2.80, $2.20 and $2.10. Softly Singing, who rallied for second, a half-length in front of Oui Say Oui, returned $3.60 and $2.60. The show price on Oui Say Oui was $2.80.

Racing resumes Thursday. Post time is 12:30 p.m.

One win shy of 2,000 in his career, trainer Bob Baffert is scheduled to have two starters – Star Presence in the first and Queenie Marini in the third.
