Early Post Time (11 A.M.) For Belmont Day June 8

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 31, 2013) — For the third and final occasion during the Spring/Summer meet, Betfair Hollywood Park will have an early post time of 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8.

The morning start is in conjunction with the simulcast of the 144th Belmont Stakes from Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.

Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 8 a.m. The first simulcast from Belmont Park is scheduled for 8:35 a.m.

In addition to the conclusion of the $5,000 Triple Crown Challenge, the Belmont Dream Contest will also be offered. Fans on track can enter a free drawing to win a $1,000 win wager on the Belmont participant of their choice.

There are three stakes races on the June 8 card at Betfair Hollywood Park. The most lucrative is the Grade II, $200,000 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap.

Named in honor of the legendary trainer who won a record 222 stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park, the 1 ¼ mile grass race attracted 11 nominations, including Interaction and All Squared Away, the 1-2 finishers in the Grade II San Juan Capistrano April 21, Lucky Primo, who is 3-for-3 over the Betfair Hollywood Park turf course, and multiple graded stakes winner and 2012 Whittingham runner-up Slim Shadey.

The other stakes to be run are also on turf – the Grade II, $150,000 Honeymoon Handicap for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles and the $70,000-added Manhattan Beach for 3-year-old fillies at six furlongs.

Entries for the Whittingham, Honeymoon, Manhattan Beach and the rest of the June 8 program will be taken Wednesday, June 5.
