INGLEWOOD, Calif. (November 5, 2010)—Blue Chagall rallied to win for the first time over the Hollywood Park turf course, capturing the $59,150 Riot in Paris Stakes Friday.

Due to a rash of surprises at Churchill Downs on the first day of the Breeders’ Cup, there will be a Pick Six carryover of $817,642 Saturday at the Louisville, Ky. Track.

The Breeders’ Cup Pick Six begins in the $1 million Turf Sprint. Post time for the Turf Sprint is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. The Pick Six concludes with the $5 million Classic, featuring Zenyatta’s attempt to remain undefeated in her 20th start. Post time for the Classic is 3:45 p.m.

A 5-year-old Testa Rosa gelding out of the Pitskelly mare Eloisey, Blue Chagall was 0-for-5 on the local grass before kicking away late from Averoo and four others.

Trained by Julio Canani for Prestonwood Racing LLC, Blue Chagall, the 7-5 favorite, ran the mile in 1:34.20 under jockey Corey Nakatani.

Content to bide his time saving ground while Classical Slew and 9-5 second choice Muny argued the pace, Blue Chagall split horses entering the stretch and powered home for his sixth lifetime victory. The French bred has earned $324,286 in 25 starts.

In winning for the second time in nine 2010 tries, Blue Chagall paid $4.80, $3 and $2.20.

Making his first appearance in the United States for Hronis Racing LLC and trainer John Sadler, Averoo finished willingly after trailing early and returned $6.60 and $3.60. He finished 1 ¼ lengths behind the winner and 2 ¼ lengths in front of Muny. The show price on Muny was $2.20.

Red Door Drive, Trumpet Player Jay and Classical Slew completed the order of finish.

Post time locally when racing resumes Saturday is 11:15 a.m.

Hollywood Park’s gates will open at 8 a.m. The first race from Churchill Downs is 9:05 a.m. The first Breeders’ Cup race – the Juvenile Turf – is scheduled for 10:50 a.m.

There will be a drawing – for Gold Cup members – for Zenyatta memorabilia between each of the live races.
