INGLEWOOD, Calif. (July 18, 2012)—Tribal Peace, a first out winner June 24 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will make her stakes debut in the California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association – for 2-year-old fillies bred in the state – Friday at Del Mar.

Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10 a.m. for simulcasts. Post time at Del Mar is 4 p.m.

Owned by breeders Pam and Marty Wygod and trained by John Sadler, who finished second behind Bob Baffert in the Spring/Summer meet standings at Betfair Hollywood Park, Tribal Peace won by a half-length, gamely defeating Cotton’s Point, who was more than eight lengths clear of the third place finisher.

A daughter of Tribal Rule and the Deputed Testamony mare No Trouble Tweenus, Tribal Peace drew outside in the field of seven Friday. The CTBA is run at six furlongs over Polytrack.

A twice-defeated maiden for trainer Jeff Bonde, Cotton’s Point will run for new majority owners when she faces Tribal Peace again. The Salt Lake filly, who was bred by Adrian Gonzalez, was purchased privately by George Bolton, Jeremy Peskoff and Summit Racing LLC. Gonzalez retains a small interest.

Besides Tribal Peace, the field includes two other last out winners. Akiss Forarose won by a nostril at 24-1 in her debut June 2 at Betfair Hollywood Park and Jilly Baylee defeated $50,000 maidens by 8 ¾ lengths June 7 over Cushion Track.

From inside out, the field for the CTBA Stakes: Akiss Forarose, Alonso Quinonez rides, 120 pounds; Tilde, Rafael Bejarano, 120; Jilly Baylee, No rider, 118; Cotton’s Point, Edwin Malondado, 118; Awe Golly Molly, Jose Valdivia, Jr., 120; Awe’ Some Kitten, Joe Talamo, 120 and Tribal Peace, David Flores, 120.
