INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 11, 2013)—Emollient, who has been idle since winning the American Oaks July 13 at Betfair Hollywood Park, will try to stay perfect on turf in the $500,000 Garden City Stakes Saturday at Belmont Park.

A Grade I for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles over the inner grass course, the Garden City is the ninth of 10 races. Scheduled post time is 2:17 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by breeder Juddmonte Farms, Inc. and trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, Emollient is 2-for-2 in Grade I events after a half-length victory as the 6-5 favorite in the American Oaks. The daughter of Empire Maker had previously won the Ashland at Keeneland by nine lengths April 6.

Out of the Touch Gold mare Soothing Touch, Emollient has won four of eight and banked $656,900. The Garden City will mark her first appearance at Belmont since he defeated maidens by 2 ¾ lengths going seven furlongs on dirt last Sept. 30.
