All Star Heart Returns To Woodbine In Canadian

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (September 14, 2012)—All Star Heart, who won the Redondo Beach Stakes June 10 at Betfair Hollywood Park, returns to her native Canada for the $300,000 Canadian Stakes Sunday at Woodbine.

A Grade II at about 1 1/8 miles on turf, the Canadian is the fifth of 11 races. Scheduled post time is 12:05 p.m. PDT. Track gates at Betfair Hollywood Park will open at 10:15 a.m. for simulcasts.

Owned by breeder Gerald Gibbs and trained by Hall of Famer Ron McAnally, All Star Heart will be making her first appearance at Woodbine since finishing fifth in a maiden race Oct. 24, 2010.

Since joining McAnally’s barn, the 5-year-old daughter of Arch and the Ascot Knight mare Gift of the Heart has won six of 11. A nose loser in the Grade II John C. Mabee Stakes Aug. 12 at Del Mar in her most recent start, All Star Heart is 6-for-18 in her career with earnings of $355,385.

The Canadian is the first of four graded stakes- three over grass – on the Sunday program. The others are the $150,000 Ontario Derby at 1 1/8 miles over Polytrack, the $500,000 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at 1 ½ miles and the $1 million Ricoh Woodbine Mile. The Ontario Derby is a Grade III while the Northern Dancer and Woodbine Mile are Grade I events.
