Jockey Quotes

JOEL ROSARIO, ULTRA BLEND, Winner: “She just tries all the time. She broke a little slow and it took her a little while to find her stride. She’s been running long the last three races, so I wanted to give her time to get into a good stride. She picked it up and picked it up and eventually she got it right. She never quits and she loves to run. She’s a little filly, but she can run.”

Trainer Quotes

ART SHERMAN, ULTRA BLEND, Winner: “She’s kind of a little bit lazy and when you whip her to the outside, she switches to another gear. That’s been the way she’s run ever since I had her. If it was a flat mile, that would be her best race. Of course, a six horse field helps a lot, too. You don’t get into any trouble that way. She likes dirt the best. She’ll run on grass, but I think she can grab a hold of it a little better on dirt. I’m going to nominate her for the Sunshine Milllions (Jan. 29) and that will probably be her next go-around. I’ll play it by ear to see who else is going and put her in both races (the $200,000 Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Sprint at Gulfstream Park and the $300,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff at Santa Anita) and see where we go from there.”
