Jockey Quotes

ALONZO QUINONEZ, PREMIER PEGASUS, Winner: “He’s a very, very nice horse. I had a lot of confidence on him. The day (July 24 at Del Mar) he broke his maiden , he really did it so easy. He was a little bit green that day, that’s why I kept in company with another horse. That horse couldn’t keep up with him and he did the same thing today. He showed me a lot more confidence and more talent. Because of the post position I had to send him a little more than I wanted, but once he’s on the lead, he just never stops. He just loves the competition.”

Trainer Quotes

MYUNG KWON CHO, PREMIER PEGASUS, Winner: “Quinonez knows this horse. I just told him to ride the horse the same way he did last time, that’s all I said. He did a great job. He had a little ankle problem in September so I gave him some time off. He’s been very strong in his recent works. This horse might go next in the ($1 million) Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (Nov. 6 at Churchill Downs). Maybe. I’m not sure yet.”

Notes: The win was the second in an Oak Tree stakes for Cho. The other came with Street Hero, a half-brother to Premier Pegasus, in the 2008 Norfolk.
