Jockey Quotes

GARRETT GOMEZ, SWITCH, Winner: “It kind of set up for her today. Things kind of worked out, but she was traveling very well. I had some difficulty on the turn with her, a little miscommunication, but once I got her lined up turning for home, she did what she was supposed to do and her class just showed. She showed she is a nice mare. I don’t know how many Grade I races she has won (two), but she ran a really nice race today and hopefully she will continue to get back on the form that she once had.”

MARTIN GARCIA, SUGARINTHEMORNING, Second: “She is a great filly, she always tries so hard. I let her run away from the gate, she wanted to be there. We tried to get to the lead, she did and I got beat by a really good horse.”

CHANTAL SUTHERLAND, GLAMORISTA, Third: “She always runs hard. We came out of the gate, unfortunately (Mildly Offensive) came in and she tripped on her hind legs, so that kind of got us a little off our game, but she recovered nicely and now it was just a waiting game and see if I could get a hole. It worked out beautifully and we were able to be third.’’

Trainer Quotes

JOHN SADLER, SWITCH, Winner: “It’s been a rough season for me with my (graded stakes) horses. We ended up strong, so that’s really good. There were a lot of Saturdays through the middle of the meet here where we were second or third, and we’re supposed to be winning those races. I’m very relieved and happy and we’ll keep working. That’s our program. Sometimes you take steps. We knew with Switch, she wasn’t real sharp in her first race (May 5 at Churchill Downs) and I thought she needed her last race (when fourth in the Desert Stormer Handicap June 17), so it moved her forward for this one. It’s all a process. (Lee and Susan Searing’s C R K Stables) brought her back this year just to try her again in the Breeders’ Cup. She’s been second (in the BC Filly and Mare Sprint) the last two years. Now we get a Breeders’ Cup at home. I love the ‘Win and You’re In.’ I think that’s tremendous. You save a lot of money on entry fees and you take the pressure off. She’s been a very good horse for us.’’
