Jockey Quotes

JOEL ROSARIO, MILES RULES, Winner: “I broke a little slow and I sent her because I wanted to take the lead. That’s the way she runs. She was pulling a little, but not too bad. Down the backstretch she was perfect, nice and relaxed. She was fighting to the end but just got a little tired. It was her first time going long. I think she’ll do better next time. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who won the photo, but I was pretty sure she had held.”

RAFAEL BEJARANO, SCREAMING REGAL, Second: “I tried to get her to stay closer, but she was a little lazy in the beginning. At the three-eighths, that’s when she really started running. It was a good try.”

Trainer Quotes

CLIFF SISE, JR, MILES RULES, Winner: “I thought she was going to win by four or five then all of the sudden, whoa. But that was a pretty fast half mile (46.52) for the last few days. She’s not the biggest filly, but her pedigree is okay for middle distances. We’ll maybe look at the ($150,00 Hollywood) Oaks (June 25) for her. There’s nothing else for Cal breds. First time stretching out and going that fast early, I thought it was a good race. She’s an awful fast sprinter, but we’ll just play it by ear.”
