INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Dec. 22, 2007) - Jerry Hollendorfer won with his only two starters at Hollywood Park on Saturday to become just the fourth trainer to reach the 5,000-win plateau.
Hollendorfer, who was at Golden Gate Fields where his lone starter failed to win, connected in the third race with Gold Trim and in the 11th and final race of the 32-day Autumn Meet with Political High.
"I'm so thankful that I got the opportunity to win that many races," Hollendorfer said via telephone. "I get all the credit, but the credit really belongs to a lot of people. I've had such great owners and help over the years. The people behind the scenes share in this great accomplishment."
Other members of the exclusive club are Dale Baird (9,445), Jack Van Berg (6,378) and King Leatherbury (6,227).
