Lit'sgoodlookngray Doesn't Disappoint In Hollywood Park's Friday Feature
INGLEWOOD, CA (July 11, 2008)--Benefitting from an ideal stalking trip, La Canada Stables' Lit'sgoodlookngray and Jockey Joe Talamo combined for an easy length and one-half victory in Friday's $52,200 feature at Hollywood Park.
Away alertly, Lit'sgoodlookngray settled quickly into third behind pacesetters Attack Jack and Dr. Seacliff. When Talamo gave the go sign at the top of the stretch, the 4-year-old Lit de Justice gelding quickly opened up on his rivals and was hand ridden to the wire, covering seven furlongs in 1:22 2/5. Waafi rallied from the back of the pack for second, a half-length in front of third-place Swiss Ski.
Trained by Jack Carava, Lit'sgoodlookngray had been somewhat of a hard-luck horse this year, finishing in the money five of six times but with only one victory. Tonight marked his fourth lifetime score and the $30,600 winner's share elevated his lifetime earnings to $206,258.
Bet down to solid favoritism, Lit'sgoodlookngray returned $5.60, $3 and $2.40. Waafi paid $7.20 and $4.80 while Swiss Ski returned $4.20 to show.
Santa Anita Derby winner Colonel John, most recently a troubled sixth in the Kentucky Derby, makes his return Saturday in the $750,000 Swaps Stakes at 1 1-8 miles for three year olds. First post time is 1:20.
