Lethal Heat Back On Turf In Flawlessly Friday Afternoon

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (July 1, 2008) - Hollywood Oaks champion Lethal Heat, winner of four of five races including her first two starts on turf, will switch back to the grass as she meets 11 rivals in Friday's $75,000 Flawlessly Stakes at Hollywood Park.

The one-mile Flawlessly will run as the eighth of nine races on the Fourth of July program, which will begin with a special 1:20 p.m. post time as Hollywood Park offers a matinee in honor of the holiday.

Lethal Heat, owned by a partnership headed by trainer Barry Abrams, won the Santa Paula in her third start before stumbling at the break and finishing third in the Railbird. That is the lone blemish for the 3-year-old daughter of Unusual Heat, who came back to win the Hollywood Oaks by a head on June 8. She enters the Flawlessly with earnings of $254,028.

Irish-bred Sweeter Still, third in the Honeymoon Handicap while traveling 1 1/8 miles in her last start, will be running a furlong less in the Flawlessy, which lines up as follows from the rail out

Final Fling, with Brice Blanc up, carries 121 pounds; Kazamira, Mike Smith, 115; Bitterbutsweet, Aaron Gryder, 117; Runforthemoneybaby, Tyler Baze, 121; Homemade Brew, Joe Talamo, 115; Starry Pursuit, Joel Rosario, 115; Respecttheofficer, Clinton Potts, 115; Lethal Heat, Rafael Bejarano, 121; Quick Commander, Alonso Quinonez, 115; Ginger Pop, Richard Migliore, 117; Sweeter Still, Martin Garcia, 121, and Gorgeous Goose, Jose Valdivia Jr., 119.

Sweeter Still, one of three fillies entered by Jeff Mullins, became a graded stakes winner May 10 with a victory in the one-mile Senorita Stakes here two starts back. She is three-for-seven overall with earnings of $206,987.

Mullins also entered 2007 Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Runforthemoneybaby and Santa Anita Oaks third-place finisher Final Fling, who has not started on turf.

Kazamira also makes her turf debut; Bitterbutsweet has a pair of stakes wins at Turf Paradise and a second in the Golden Poppy at Golden Gate Fields; Homemade Brew finished third in her first turf race June 22; Starry Pursuit won the Manhattan Beach at six furlongs in her last start and is four-for-five; Respecttheofficer was fourth in the Golden Poppy; Quick Commander enters following a maiden win on turf; Ginger Pop is a nose shy of three straight wins, and Blue Northern winner Gorgeous Goose exits the graded stakes ranks for this test.
