INGLEWOOD, Calif. (June 19, 2008) - Booyah went to the front under jockey Joe Talamo and easily turned back a bid from favorite Farleigh House approaching the eighth pole en route to a 3½-length victory in Thursday's $53,400 allowance/optional claiming feature at Hollywood Park.
The 4-year-old son of Running Stag covered 1¼ miles on the Lakeside Turf Course in 2:02.51 while paying $13.80, $4.40 and $2.40 in the field of six older horses. Farleigh House, ridden by Victor Espinoza, paid $2.40 and $2.10, while the show payoff on Esporte Dos Reis with Joel Rosario up was $2.80.
Booyah, trained by Jerry Fanning for Lathrop G. Hoffman, won for the third time in 15 starts. The winner's check of $31,800 raised the bay colt's earnings to $98,310.
