Sartorial Stages Successful Comeback In Friday Hollywood Park Feature; Pick Six Carryover, Big Brown's Triple Crown Bid Saturday

INGLEWOOD, CA (June 5, 2008)--Making his first start of the year, Bass and Seeligson, III's Sartorial proved best over six rivals to capture Friday's $57,800 turf headliner at Hollywood Park.

Benefitting from a perfect ride by Corey Nakatani, Sartorial saved ground in third most of the way, found a seam between horses midstretch and came away with a three-quarter length victory over Tent. The runnerup finished one length in front of even-money favorite Mind the Minister, who was virtually eliminated at the break when he hopped in the air. Budha was withdrawn from the race earlier in the day, leaving a field of seven.

A 5-year-old gelding by Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Charismatic, Sartorial rang up his third lifetime victory for Richard Mandella and returned $19, $7.80 and $3.80. Tent paid $8.20 and $4, while Mind the Minister came back $2.10 for the show. Sartorial ran the mile and one-sixteenth on turf in 1:41 4/5

The $34,200 winner's share boosted Sartorial's lifetime total to $122,100.

A carryover of $114,665 spices up the Pick Six on Saturday. In addition, Hollywood Park will offer wagering on the Belmont Stakes, in which Big Brown will attempt to become the first horse in 30 years to win the Triple Crown, and a stakes tripleheader, including the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap. Post time is 12 noon.
