Ginger Pop Leaves No Doubt Under Migliore In Feature;
$69,835 Pick Six Carryover On Friday Night At Hollypark
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 29, 2008) - Favorite Ginger Pop, who split decisions while her last two starts were decided by a nose, scored a decisive victory under jockey Richard Migliore in Thursday's $53,000 feature at Hollywood Park, leading very step of the way en route to a two-length victory.
While the feature went according to form, several upsets resulted in a Pick Six carryover of $69,835 on Friday night at Hollywood Park.
Ginger Pop, a 3-year-old daughter of El Prado, covered 1 1/16 miles on the Lakeside Turf Course in 1:42.34 to register her second win in four starts. She finished fourth in her career debut in February, broke her maiden by a nose April 13 on the downhill course at Santa Anita Park and finished second - beaten a nose - here on May 11.
Ginger Pop was never seriously threatened Thursday while paying $5 as the 3-2 betting choice. Be Glorious finished second under Rafael Bejarano in the field of eight 3-year-old fillies, while Snow Delicious was another 3½ lengths back in third with Michael Baze up.
The chestnut banked $31,800 to raise her earnings to $71,600.
