Texan Wins $5,000 Show Me The Money Contest
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 25, 2008) - Kristine Benlulu of Houston, Texas, clinched Hollywood Park's $5,000 winner-take-all Show Me The Money contest on Saturday as her last rival was eliminated from the starting field of 2,563.
In the Show Me The Money contest, contestants pick one horse each racing day. If the horse runs first, second or third, they remain in the contest. If the horse runs out of the money, contestants are eliminated.
Benlulu selected favorite Madeo in the Alydar Stakes on Saturday and remained alive when he finished second. Larry Haynes, of Calgary, Alberta, was eliminated one race later when favorite Ransom Captive finished seventh. Benlulu and Haynes had gone head-to-head for three racing days.
The contest began April 27 and went 20 racing days.
